Who We Are
Next Step is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about literacy issues in the region of New Tecumseth, Adjala-Tosorontio, Innisfil, Essa, and Bradford West Gwillimbury. We offer free, one-to-one and small group tutoring to adults in reading, writing, and math to help increase employability and independence. We create customized training plans to help students progress toward their personal goals, at their own pace, in a confidential and supportive environment.
The Literacy Council of South Simcoe (LCSS) began as a grassroots organization when a group of concerned citizens joined together to help people in their community improve their reading and writing skills. Eventually they were able to get some support from the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities to assist with operational expenses. Thanks to the dedication of these volunteers and the community, LCSS purchased our current site where we continue to assist our community in building their skills. We now have more financial support from MTCU and more programs, including basic computer training.
Training and Development
Our Training and Development Manager is responsible for interviewing students as well as matching up tutors and students. He also trains tutors in teaching reading, writing and mathematics. He helps students create a learning plan and helps tutors with finding resources. If you have any questions about the upgrading part of the program, the Training and Development Manager is the one to talk to. E-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
